M.P.E.C. 2018-L36 Issued 2018 June 8, 23:31 UT The Minor Planet Electronic Circulars contain information on unusual minor planets and routine data on comets. They are published on behalf of Division F of the International Astronomical Union by the Minor Planet Center, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. Prepared using the Tamkin Foundation Computer Network MPC@CFA.HARVARD.EDU URL https://www.minorplanetcenter.net/ ISSN 1523-6714 COMET P/2018 L1 (PANSTARRS) This object was reported as a possible comet by R. Weryk who described a possible short tail to the SE in the F51 June 3 images. G. Hug (H36) reported that the object was diffuse with a 8"-10" circular coma in images obtained on June 4.1 UT. Weryk later reported that the object was clearly a comet ion images on June 6.3 UT, with a FWHM 40% larger than neighbouring stars and a ~ 6" tail in P.A. 100. H. Sato (Q62) reported a 8" strongly-condensed coma, but no tail in images on June 6.4 UT.
